Seasonal Protection

How to get and remain healthy during the winter season. Focus should be on consuming lots of vegetables, and restriction of refined carbohydrates and sugars which can suppress the immune system. This can also be assisted using probiotics and other fermented foods and herbs such as turmeric, ginger, garlic and green tea.

It is important to stay hydrated by drinking at least 64 ounces of some good, filtered water as well.

Also important is managing stress, since our immune system can be suppressed during times of high stress. This involves regular exercise of some aerobic activity for 20 to 30 minutes per day, daily prayer and/or meditation, taking full deep breaths throughout the day, and feeling thankful and counting your blessings.

Aim for at least 7-8 hours of restful sleep each night.
